All over the world, health professionals have been known to suffer from depression and suicide.

Recently, there has been an increased discussion of these problems in the public domain.

When health professionals that are saddled with the responsibility of treating patients with these problems become victims of same, what dangers are there for the public and also for their colleagues?

These, and other issues, form the theme of our next conference.

The Honourable Health Minister, Prof. Isaac Adewole will give the keynote address at the event.

We have assembled an array of professionals that will bring to the fore the challenges that face the medical community concerning these clinical, social and human problems.

Professor Amos Adeboye Alao received his Bachelor of Science Education  (Zoology and Botany) Degree from University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) in 1971. He received his Masters of Arts and the Doctor of Philosophy Degrees in Guidance & Counselling from the Department of Psychological Services, Atlanta University, USA in 1975 and 1979 respectively.

Dr. Oluyinka Emmanuel MAJEKODUNMI (M.B: B.S., MSc.(Epid./ Med.Stat.), EMDAS, FWACP)

Dr. Majekodunmi is a Senior Consultant Psychiatrist with the Neuropsychiatric Hospital Aro Abeokuta, Nigeria. He specializes in General adult Psychiatry with special interest in Forensic Psychiatry. He heads the Forensic unit of the hospital and navigates the difficult pathways of correctional psychiatry (Prison psychiatry services) system involving collaboration with the criminal justice system. He is a 1997 Ibadan Medical Graduate with Masters in Epidemiology and Medical statistics from the same university in 2011.

NATHANIEL Ayodeji is a graduate in Psychology from Olabisi Onabanjo University, and  Master degree in Psychology from University of Lagos, with training and clinical experience from Nigerian Army Reference Hospital, Yaba, Lagos State Teaching Hospital, Ikeja and Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital – Abeokuta. His passion is on Health and Developmental Psychology with research interest and interventions on Wellbeing and Mental health, Mind Dynamics, Family Care, Prevention and management of Depression, and Self Improvement Therapeutic Programs.

A native of Aniocha South LGA of Delta state. He was born on the 11th of August.He started school in H.D. Cooke Elementary school, Washington DC, USA, where he grew up until 1978 then returned to Nigeria to complete his primary education, and then secondary education first at CMS Grammar school (the oldest secondary school in Nigeria and 2nd oldest in West Africa), and then Ajayi Crowther Memorial Grammar school (formerly CMS Grammar school II) finishing his O Level in 1986.He then went back to CMS Grammar school for his A Levels from 1986-1988, and there he was the punctuality prefect.

(MBBS (Ibadan), MSc (Lagos), FWACP, Cert Int Comm Health (Oslo)

Dr Babatunde Fadipe is a Consultant Psychiatrist with the Lagos University Teaching Hospital where he is involved in rendering clinical service, teaching and research. His core interests are in the areas of adolescent addiction, psychosocial issues in health among underserved populations, psycho-oncology and mental health advocacy.
